We will never disclose the identity or any information pertaining to the identity of anyone who reports any act of corruption. Below are the ways how we guarantee we can keep our promise to everyone who files a report.
Technical
- SSL: Through ssl on our website we establish a secure and encrypted connection between your computer/tablet/phone and our server. Every piece of information is encrypted to guarantee the highest level of security. No one can see or understand what is being communicated. Make sure you use the correct url: https://www.whistleblowerguyana.org/. Take note of the “s” in “https”; this is your assurance that the connection is encrypted.
- Other: Other precautions and technical measures, which we won’t disclose for obvious reasons, that allow us to prevent unauthorized access to our website, the database or any other kind of information.
Legal
- Server: Our server is located outside of Guyana so there is no Guyanese hosting provider involved who can be pressured into cooperating with Guyanese law enforcement agencies when those agencies abuse the law to target people and organizations who want to expose corruption.
- Jurisdiction: WhistleBlowerGuyana is officially located in a jurisdiction outside of Guyana and is protected by the laws of that country. This protection extends to the ones reporting corruption seen that every request from any institution or organization in Guyana will have to be approved by local courts in the jurisdiction of WhistleBlowerGuyana.
- Laws: WhistleBlowerGuyana is protected by stringent local whistleblower laws which are taken seriously by local courts. Reporting corruption in not a crime similar to financial crimes or terrorism in this jurisdiction so it will be impossible for Guyanese law enforcement agencies to prosecute anyone who reports any act of corruption to WhistleBlowerGuyana.
- Penalties: Because we operate in a jurisdiction with strict whistleblower laws, we ourselves are liable to severe penalties if we were to expose whistleblowers and put them in danger.
